Cokeville Historical Society 2009 Schedule

Check back soon for a posting of the 2009 Cokeville Historical Society yearly schedule

Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are needed for a large archiving job.

The Cokeville Cemetery is being digitized in several ways by an area historian. He has requested help in gathering information and he is willing to add the information to a website he will make for the Cokeville Historical Society. This is an amazing opportunity to have some Cokeville history preserved and made accessible to the public.

Already completed is that the headstones have all been photographed and are being prepared for a website.

Now funeral programs and obituaries are being collected for all who are buried in the cemetery and also for anyone who has a connection to Cokeville: i.e. born here, lived here, taught here etc. but not buried here.

This is a large project and of course, will be on-going. However, the archiving part can be completed in a decent amount of time...with volunteers.

We need to find obituaries and funeral programs. Do you have some?

Would you be willing to help scan?
(You can get the easy necessary training to do this. Also, if you do not have access to a scanner, a place can be provided for you if you can volunteer time) Please email karla_toomer@yahoo.com

Karla Toomer has previously talked to several people about this project. If you are still interested, or you haven't been talked to but this sounds like something you can spend a few hours a week on, please email to karla_toomer@yahoo.com
